A young man loses his wife after she has suffered through a long illness. Unable to cope with the trauma, he makes use of an experimental technology, which allows him to meet his wife in a parallel digital realm.
What are life’s limits in space and time? Is it possible beyond its end? What is the meaning of “time” within the context of the deterministic assumption that beginning and end are one and the same? Are the daily choices we make and stand for a manifestation of our free will? Perhaps yes, if love and memory are powerful enough to transport us to another dimension where we can forgive ourselves for our mistakes, rethink our context and destiny, overcome our pain and glimpse the multidimensional meaning of togetherness.
“Constellations” is a mysterious game for two, which transports us well into the realm of self-discovery. The complex, ambitious, and bountiful roles of Roland and Marianne are embodied by Nencho Kostov and Radina Dumanyan.
“Constellations” is the second project realised within the “Apostol Karamitev” Program. It was inaugurated in 2023 on the occasion of the centenary from the birth of the great Bulgarian actor - Apostol Karamitev. The foundational goals of this initiative are to create opportunities for the presentation of various forms and aesthetics, to implement new, interdisciplinary perspectives towards theatre making, to discover interesting authors, ideas and practices, to challenge the troupe and crew of the theatre with new artistic approaches, to give visibility to new and thus far unknown to the National Theatre authors, which can enrich us through their individual understanding towards the craft of theatre.
