Graduated at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts "Kr. Sarafov" (NATFA) in 1967, in the class of Prof. Boyan Danovski. He has performed at dramatic theaters in Varna and Plovdiv , as well as at the New Drama Theatre "Tears and Laughter" in Sofia. Among his most notable theatrical roles are Antifolus in William Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors" and MacMurphy in Ken Kesey's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".
In 1985, he joined the troupe of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, where he played key roles, including Henry in Margarit Minkov's "The Fireplace, the Lord in Petar Anastasov's "Wolf Church", Boubnov in Maxim Gorky's "The Lower Depths", Doctor in Shakespeare's "Macbeth", Prof. Santana in Eduardo De Filippo's "Ghosts in Naples", Messenger from Corinth in Sophocles' "Oedipus Rex", Painter in Eugene Ionesco's "Macbeth", Spyridon in Kamen Donev's "Day Off", La Farr in Shakespeare's "King Lear", Preskovich in Josianne Balasco's "Santa Claus is Rubbish, Father Olivares in Dimitar Dimov's "Damned Souls", Anuchkin in Gogol's "Marriage", the Teacher in Emilian Stanev's "The Peach Thief", Master Dobry in Racho Stoyanov's "Masters", Babina Dushitsa in Yordan Radichkov's "Attempt to Fly", Ron in Mark Rylance and Louis Jenkins' "Nice Fish" and Vucol Potehin in Maxim Gorky's "A Charming Summer with Its Inevitable Troubles".
Marin Yanev also appeared in classic Bulgarian films such as "A Tree Without Roots" and "The Goat Horn".
He received the Award of the Union of Actors in Bulgaria in 1980 for Best Male Role for his portrayal of Mac Murphy in Ken Kesey's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". In 1998, he was honored with the ASKEER Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Lord in Peter Anastasov's "Wolf Church".
