Anya Pencheva

Graduated from The Higher Institute of Theatre Arts "Kr. Sarafov" in 1980 in the class of Prof. Sasho Stoyanov. Her professional career started in the Nikolay Binev Youth Theatre with the role of Jill Mason in "Equus" by Peter Shaffer.

Since 1987 she has been in the troupe of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, where she debuted as Dafinka in "Mother-in-Law" by Anton Strashimirov. Her other roles include: Othilia Krause in "Before Dawn" by Gerhart Hauptmann, Doreen in "The Private Ear" and Clea in "Black Comedy” by Peter Shaffer, Anna in "Vasa Zheleznova-1910" by Maxim Gorky, Polina Andreevna in "The Seagul" by A. Chekhov, Caterina Ginori in "Lorenzaccio" by Alfred de Musset, Comtesse de Saint-Fond in "Madame de Sade" by Yukio Mishima, Amalia in "Duel" by Ivan Vazov, Else in "Anatole" by Arthur Schnitzler, the Woman in "The Blue Room" by David Hare, Sheila in "Jake's Women" by Neil Simon, Lady McDuff in "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare, Lady Duncan in "Macbett" by Eugene Ionesco, She in "The Unapproachable" by Krzysztof Zanussi, Xanthyppe in "The Last Night of Socrates" by Stefan Tsanev, the Woman in "Bus" by Stanislav Stratiev, Audrey in "All that jazz!" by R. Arthur and B.
