Martin Dimitrov

Martin Dimitrov graduated from National Academy for Theatre "Krastyo Sarafov" with a degree in Acting for Drama Theatre, in the class of Prof. Ivan Dobchev in 2015.

In 2013, he made his debut on the stage of the “Ivan Vazov” National Theatre in the play The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? by Edward Albee, directed by Yavor Gardev. Over the years, he has also participated in other performances in the National Theatre’ repertoire, including Zhana by Yaroslava Pulinovich, directed by Yavor Gardev, The Observers by Konstantin Iliev, directed by Yavor Gardev, and Hamlet by William Shakespeare, directed by Yavor Gardev.

From 2018 to 2024, he was part of the troupe of Sofia Theatre, where he performed in several productions, including Anna Karenina by L.N. Tolstoy – where he plays the role of Vronsky. In 2022, he starred in Nirvana by Konstantin Iliev, directed by Boyan Kracholov, in the role of The Man.

Since 2024, he has been part of the troupe of the “Ivan Vazov” National Theatre.

In addition to his theatre career, Martin Dimitrov has also played various roles  in cinema and television.  He appeared in the Bulgarian National Television series On the Border (2014) based on stories by Yordan Yovkov with script by Dimitar Stoyanov. He also starred in Galin Stoev's debut movie The Endless Garden (2017), produced by Martichka Bozhilova (AGITPROP). From 2019 to 2022, he appeared in five seasons of the series Brothers.

In 2024, he received the Award for Best Young Actor for his role as Bruno in The Elementary Particles from the "Theatre at the Crossroads" festival in Niš, Serbia. He was nominated for an Askeer 2023 Award for Best Supporting Male Role for his portrayal of Krishtov in the play Unbearably Long Embraces by Ivan Vyrypaev, directed by Kris Sharkov.

This season, on the stage of the “Ivan Vazov” National Theatre, you can watch Martin Dimitrov in the performances Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, NON-HUMAN, The Elementary Particles, Pieces of a Woman and The Observers (Hypothesis about the Beyond).
